I’m Brendan O’Brien, ACA, founder of Top Tier Accounting, a modern, tech-enabled practice serving ambitious businesses across Ireland.
A Foundation of Curiosity and Craft
I studied Business and Computer Science in college - a mix that shaped how I think: structured, analytical, and always searching for smarter ways to solve problems.
After graduating, I spent five years in practice perfecting my craft and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ACA).
Consulting, Travel, and Finding a Better Way to Work
After qualifying, I worked as a consultant - running my own small accounting setup while travelling the world and deepening my expertise in tax and professional practice as I began my Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) exams.
Those years taught me how the right systems can turn a traditional office-based role into one that offers true independence and freedom - and how that same innovation can empower business owners to work smarter, with clarity and confidence.
Experience in Industry - and a Clear Realisation
Later, I spent 18 months in industry, gaining insight into how larger organisations operate.
But it also reaffirmed something important: my real passion is working directly with business owners - helping them cut through the noise, stay compliant, and grow with clarity and confidence.
During that time, I continued progressing through my Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification and invested heavily in learning - tax, technology, and smarter systems.

Those lessons became the foundation of Top Tier Accounting - a practice built on clarity, proactive support, and genuine care for the people we work with.
